District president addresses Noon Exchange Club

 The Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove met on September 25, 2015. Noon Exchange President Dennis Ayres called the meeting to order. Board Member Dr. Parker Bogue offered the invocation, and Board Member JT Tatum asked Club Members to join in the Pledge Allegiance. Then, Ayres introduced guests Texas District President Ken Goodman and Texas District Secretary Ursula. During the opening announcements, President Elect Inez Faison shared details of the Golden Deeds Banquet. “The Golden Deeds Banquet is October 10 on 6:30 and will take place at the Social Hall at Holy Family Catholic Church.” Faison asked members to RSPV by October 5 then added, “The cost is $10 per person. We will be honoring Dr. Joyce Wilson, which will be done posthumously.” Faison also read a thank you letter from the Cove House Emergency Shelter for the club’s donation. ‘ Next, President Dennis Ayres presented a letter from the National Exchange, congratulating the Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove for participation in all programs of service. The letter also included National Service Award patch for the Club’s banner. Ayres shared that October 6 as the date for the first Feast of Sharing planning meeting which will take place at the Housing Authority at noon. Marilyn Bell was inducted as the club’s newest member following morning announcements. President Dennis Ayres listed the duties of new members after reading the covenant. Bell’s sponsor Amber Franklin, pinned Bell with the Exchange pin. Secretary Pat Thomas then conducted the Proudly We Hail Ceremony. “It is my job to find a flag at someone’s home that is flown properly and flown at night with the proper light,” she said. “Today I would like to present a Proudly We Hail plaque to Wilma and Roberto Cordero.” Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove President Dennis Ayres introduced the guest speaker, Texas District Exchange Club President Ken Goodman. Goodman commended the club for its positive growth. Discussion also included means to increase membership and strengthen communication, “Exchange does not exist without clubs… This is where all the work happens. This is where all the excitement happens; and this is where the impact to the community occurs,” Goodman said. He also shared information from the National Exchange and closed by encouraging club members to participate in the conventions. The date for the Mid Winter Conference is January 29-30, 2016 in Dallas. The District Convention will be held in San Antonio June 24-26, 2016. In closing, President Elect Inez Faison led the scholarship auction and raised over $200 from club members. President Dennis Ayres then led the Covenant of Service.
