City library hosts rocket launch

By DAVID MORRIS

Copperas Cove Public Library Director Kevin Marsh played the role of Mission Commander Tuesday, launching more than 40 rockets as the children in the summer reading program began the celebration marking the conclusion of their program. “The purpose of the rocket launch is to keep the kids excited about summer reading,” said Marsh. This is part of the finally with the kids building fancy rockets all summer.” Rockets decorated with in camo duct tape, clad in black and yellow sporting a Batman theme, or even designed to look like Apollo 11 were filled with water, pressurized and  sent skyward with a tug of a string thanks to the creative minds of children age 8-11.
