CCISD welcomes new teachers

By KERRI CHRISTENSEN

The district welcomed 66 new teachers for the 2014-2015 school year with 28 of those teachers being first-year teachers during a new teacher orientation that started on Wednesday. With school starting August 25, Copperas Cove ISD is preparing teachers, new and old for another year. A handful of instructional coaches worked with the teachers to help them focus on multiple strategies that would better increase student engagement, improve student achievement, and understand overall what they are to expect for the year to come. Heidi Grace, instructional coach for Copperas Cove Junior High, said that Wednesday was zero year teachers. These are the teachers that have never ever taught. Thursday is teacher instructions for all teachers who are new to the district. Next week every teacher in the district comes for instruction.
