Art Guild to hold mural unveiling Friday

By LYNETTE SOWELL Cove Leader-PressThe Five Hills Art Guild has  completed its first mural in downtown Copperas Cove, as part of the group’s mission to beautify the city with art in public places. The community is invited to a celebration, hosted by the guild and building owner, Donlie Mc- Mullin, on Friday, July 24, 2015, at 5 p.m. The mural unveiling and celebration will take place at 201 S. First St., on the corner of First Street and Avenue D. Refreshments will be served with the unveiling set for 6:30 p.m.  The all-volunteer mural painting group consisted of committee leaders Linda Lapierre and Sheri Wilson, both teachers, and five other fellow group members in the roughly month-long project. The group had a couple of rain delays, and painted early mornings and later in the evenings to beat the heat. During the early part of the project, the guild painters had assistance from the Rabbit Fest royalty who helped “rough in” some of the figures in the painting.
