Major General John Uberti, deputy commanding general of III Corps, welcomed a large crowd of dignitaries on Thursday to break ground on the largest electric generation project ever to be built at a military facility.
The project which includes both wind and solar will save the Army approximately $168 million in utility bills and will provide over half of the energy needs at Fort Hood.
Katherine Hammack, Assistant Secretary of the Army, agreed with the General and in her speech she mentioned many firsts for Fort Hood.
