Crazy chicken lady

By Renae Brumbaugh

A few years ago, I realized I’d turned into my mother. Now, my mother is a lovely woman, and I’m honored to be compared to her. That said, it’s kind of a bummer to realize you’ve reached that point in life where the things you once laughed at in your parents are now the things your kids laugh at when they talk about you behind your back. Kinda depressing. Only now, it’s gotten worse. Much, much worse. It’s gotten about as worse as it can possibly get. I’ve turned into my grandmother. I have, y’all! I’m still young, but I’m starting to act old. And no, I’m not a grandmother yet, or anywhere near being one. But this slow-paced country living is doing things to me. It’s turning me into an old chicken lady who sits on the porch and counts the cars as they drive by.
