Sheffield opposes vets tax break

The Copperas Cove City Council and State Representative J.D. Sheffield both disagree with the passing of House Bill 1162 that relates to a tax exemption for certain disabled veterans and their surviving spouses. The 83rd Texas legislative session is currently being held at the state capital and on Feb. 11 House Bill 1162 was filed by representative Ed Thompson who represents District 29 in the Houston area. The bill has since been sent to the ways and means committee and is waiting to be scheduled to be discussed.
