Playoff hopes alive for Cove Soccer programs

The Copperas Cove Lady Dawgs soccer team is clinging to fourth place in District 8- 5A, winning a pair of games against Killeen ISD to maintain a tie with Ellison High School for the final playoff spot for the district. Tuesday night the Lady Dawgs defeated Killeen 3-2 on their Ave. E field.“ Every game counts,” said Lady Dawgs coach Hagen Streckel. “We can not take any game for granted. We have to play them one game at a time and focus only on that.” Killeen struck first, taking a 1-0 advantage to the halftime break before Cove would rally and score three consecutive goals. Killeen found the back of the net one final time late in the second half of play.
