Garner’s 4 TD night overshadowed in loss
A four score performance by freshman Caine Garner was overshadowed by Belton Tiger running back Davion Peoples and a seven score night. Racking up 309 yards, Peoples dominated Bulldawg Stadium Thursday evening rushing for seven scores over three quarters of action as the Bulldawgs struggled to contain the rushing attack of Belton in the 60-28 blowout. Copperas Cove scored first, however Belton scored more often finding the endzone for the first time with 41 ticks left on the clock in the first quarter of action. Copperas Cove’s first score of the night came on a 12-yard run by quarterback Caine Garner, capping a six play drive that began at their own 40-yard line. Gabriel Williams added the point after kick for a quick seven point lead less than five minutes into the contest.
