Council to tackle vacant buildings

An abandoned apartment complex on Sunset that burned recently had been vacant for three years. The city council is looking at ways to handle these buildings.

The Copperas Cove city council will review an ordinance amendment dealing with unsafe buildings and structures just weeks after a fire on Sunset Lane claims an abandoned apartment complex. The Copperas Cove Fire Department ruled the cause of the fire to be undetermined, but rumors surrounding the Feb. 25 fire include statements claiming the incident was a result of a methamphetamine lab explosion. Regardless of the cause, a closer examination of the Code of Ordinances Chapter 20, could be expected.
