Rick Williams of Farmers Insurance became an agent in early 2002 deciding helping people was what he wanted to do with his wife, Sheila.

Both show a big heart for their community and consistently involved in giving back to not what they would call “customers” but what they say are their neighbors and friends.

The Williams family donates to Cove Athletics, FFA, Exchange Club, and much more while being highly involved with their church.

“We make it a point to know our customers on a real personal level,” said Rick.

“For example, when adjustors will meet our customers we will go out to their home and meet with them with the adjustors,” said Sheila. “The adjustors would say that we never have agents come out here.  For us we are trying to protect our customer by doing stuff like that.”

The office which is located at suite 122 in the Cove Terrace is made up of four Farmers Insurance representatives.

Along with the Williams family is agent, Sarah Chambers and new to the agency is April Borges.

Prior to providing the Copperas Cove community with insurance, Rick was a claims adjustor who worked out of Houston, TX.  Rick decided that he no longer wanted to be a claims adjustor, because it took him away from his family having to travel a lot.

“I wanted to be an agent and have a local office dealing with local people.  That is what we like,” said Rick.

Luckily, for the Williams family Copperas Cove had an opening for an agent. Next the family found their ranch house they always dreamed of having and with two young children at the time they found a small school near their house that was a right fit for their family.

“Everything just fell into place,” said Rick.

Totaling 14 years with providing people with their insurance needs, the Williams family sold health and life insurance for Farm and Ranch Healthcare prior to starting with Farmers.

“There’s two types of insurancing.  There’s life and health then their is property and casualty.  Life insurance is just like it sounds with life insurance, health insurance, annuities, supplements,” said Rick. “We also got licensed in property and casualty which is your home, auto, and liability.  This is mainly home and auto, but you also have your specialty like boats, commercial, and businesses.”

The Williams are offering not only car and home insurance to the community, but are also offering financial services.

“A lot of agents don’t do securities like the mutual funds, Roth IRA’s, college 529 savings plan.  Investing basically. Other agents are strictly insurance and does not do the financial services at all,” said Rick. “It goes hand in hand, agents should protect their customers.”

Sheila went onto say that what makes us different is we can do everything.

“You don’t have to have your home insurance over here, because they have the better price or your auto somewhere else where neither company talks to each other, and neither company knows what’s going on in between them,” said Sheila. “With us you get a full service agency.  Everything from something as simple as your auto insurance all the way up to your retirement plan so they can all work together in the same agency, and one hand knows what the other hand is doing.”

Many affinity discounts are offered through Farmers Insurance including Military, Teachers, Firefighters, Police Officers, and Doctors.
